![]() I just spooled up with the yellow 30lb braid. In the past i have always used the low viz green...but I can see shit anymore (don't get old). anyway i'm hoping with a 3 foot flouro leader it wont spook the fish?

![]() Why only three feet of floro leader?
I do two rod lengths generally. Abrasion on the line while casting is way down. And less likely to spook the fish 15-16 feet away. BUT..... Need a smooth joining not as it runs through the guides with every cast to keep the distance up when you cast. And if you get a bite off or a break off - you likely still have enough leader/shock line left and no tying pain in the a*s knots in the wind. Just my thoughts. I also feel your pain seeing tiny stuff as you age. LOL

![]() Good info.
I use about an arms length or a tad more of flouro and join it to a barrel swivel with braid on the end of that. It's hard for me to launch with longer leader due to the swivel getting stuck in the guides. Do you have a preferred method of joining the flouro and braid together? Would that make it as strong as using a barrel swivel or stronger? Thanks |

![]() I've tied the mono-braid with knots. Don't know anyone who uses a swivel. It's a good idea. But cuts cast smoothness.
Why not a swivel at the bitter end of the flouro leader? I like the longer leader when casting because I still have a few wraps on the reel when launching. That I THINK gives it a little more spring and does not stress the joining knot since your trigger finger is on the leader when letting it rip. I like it that both casting and conventional reels. It's a personal like. Not gospel. I'm sure others Quote:

![]() My father has been fishing yellow or white power pro for years. I fish green and there has been no difference in production of one or the other. We fish with a 36 to 40 inch flouro leader.

![]() I have always use a line to line uni knot. learned it 20 years back from a tarpon guide I knew in florida. holds up well and I use it fresh or salt. recently my buddy showed me a more streamlined knot for joining mono and braid but the name escapes me, ill ask and repost. maybe its me but i believe the less metal, aside from the hook lol, the better. just an opinion. btw leader material is seagar invis-x
