Been doing the sunrise and sunset thing on the river lately with the fish being in their typical summertime spots. Been landing at least 2 Pike every trip but losing a lot more to spit hooks. Saturday, after landing one and losing two more, I dug deep into my tackle bag to find my unopened pack of trailer hooks. Added one to my monster sized spinner and within 5 minutes was rewarded with my 2nd biggest Pike ever. This bruiser DRENCHED me and my phone ($660 later lol), but I managed to get her in the net, a few decent photos, and happily released to get to that magical 40" mark. She measured out to 38" on the nose . Sorry for the subpar photos, I was riding solo with no GoPro and she was a handful.
