Thanks for the advice. I don't mind traveling a bit if its worth it. Going to hit Pompton Friday. Rather avoid the Newark watershed lakes due to the permit. Might try to schedule a trip to Merril. Was also looking at Spruce Run as an option, seems about an hour drive for me. Thoughts?

the permit is honestly one of the best parts about the NWCDC lakes. no idiots swimming on the boat ramps or subarus with kayak racks blocking the trailer turn around areas like you get at some of those other places. i used to go there all the time in the summer before i got a boat big enough to take fluking. if you like catching fish the permit is def worth it.

Whats the overall cost for the watershed permits? Fishing and Boat?
I knew guys that used to fish it a lot about 15 years ago but they've all moved on saying the costs outweighed the results. |
