North Jersey Boat Access
Hello,
Long time viewer but first time poster, Im looking for public spots in North Jersey with boat ramp access. Currently i usually fish Pompton, green turtle pond, Sheppards Pond, and if i must, Skunksville. Im hoping for more recommendations in the Bergen/Passaic area. I used to hit a few more spots when i had a light aluminum boat i could carry if needed, but now with a 14' trailered fiberglass boat i need to have at least some version of a ramp. I look forward to your help! |
Re: North Jersey Boat Access
Hopatcong is an option, as well as Merrill. Theres some you need specific permits for, like the Newark watershed lakes, but if you do a little google map searching you'd be surprised at what you find. Bergen/Passaic is a little harder to search through but theres plenty of gorgeous water if you're willing to drive a bit further.
Welcome to the site! :D |
Re: North Jersey Boat Access
I have to agree with Merrill Creek. Good boat ramp and not many people on Weekdays. Heading there Friday to test out my new Baitcaster setup.

Re: North Jersey Boat Access
Thanks for the advice. I don't mind traveling a bit if its worth it. Going to hit Pompton Friday. Rather avoid the Newark watershed lakes due to the permit. Might try to schedule a trip to Merril. Was also looking at Spruce Run as an option, seems about an hour drive for me. Thoughts?

Re: North Jersey Boat Access
Whats the overall cost for the watershed permits? Fishing and Boat?
I knew guys that used to fish it a lot about 15 years ago but they've all moved on saying the costs outweighed the results. |
