![]() What makes a good fluke bucktail rod? i'm specifically looking for one to use on party boats. I'm looking for suggestions around the best length, action, line rating, and weight rating. I'm also very much open to suggestions on specific rods that you like. Not too worried about the price, but just to frame the discussion, let's stick between 150–200 bucks. in general, I like a very light weight, fast action rods.

![]() I don't really fish party boats but you might want to check out the shimano trevala rods. really nice nice, light jigging rods.

![]() I just bought a 20-50lb Nexus rod from Jigging World. Cut off 4" and absolutely love it. It's spiral wrapped and super light. You can use 1oz up to 6oz bucktails no problem. Anything heavier I use my G Loomis Pro Blue stick

![]() I had that very same penn battalion in my hand yesterday at the tackle shop. It did seem very light. I was unsure how much weight it would handle, but that recommendation seems consistent with how it felt.
