Fluke bucktail rod
What makes a good fluke bucktail rod? i'm specifically looking for one to use on party boats. I'm looking for suggestions around the best length, action, line rating, and weight rating. I'm also very much open to suggestions on specific rods that you like. Not too worried about the price, but just to frame the discussion, let's stick between 150–200 bucks. in general, I like a very light weight, fast action rods.

I don't really fish party boats but you might want to check out the shimano trevala rods. really nice nice, light jigging rods.

Penn battalion 7'
15/30# line rating . Can fish 2-10 ounces on it . Super light with allot of back bone |
Re: Fluke bucktail rod
I just bought a 20-50lb Nexus rod from Jigging World. Cut off 4" and absolutely love it. It's spiral wrapped and super light. You can use 1oz up to 6oz bucktails no problem. Anything heavier I use my G Loomis Pro Blue stick

Re: Fluke bucktail rod
I had that very same penn battalion in my hand yesterday at the tackle shop. It did seem very light. I was unsure how much weight it would handle, but that recommendation seems consistent with how it felt.

couldn't ask for a sweeter set up. Everyone that fishes with me that only wants to use one rod gets the 15/30 and is very happy with it. Had fluke over ten pounds on them, bass to the mid 40's and blackfish to 14 pounds. its a great fit for most of our inshore fishery in NJ |
Re: Fluke bucktail rod
You gotta get some of these rods in your hands to get a feel for em. Some people like a softer tip or a stiffer rod like myself. Going to depend on how much weight you are going to be fishing. I have different rods for different weights.

What reels do you use on those two penn battalions?
