They're not limited to just the ponds, though. Like poison ivy and ticks, they've become just another fact of life fishing in NJ. Fortunately, those of us who do buy licenses and trout stamps are numerous enough to keep the stockings going.

even though not choked or muddy I wonder why Hammonton Lake gets stocked... be curious if they ever get a return from that place

The brood stock should have been spread out better. North Jersey should have a handful of ponds getting some fish.

Look on the bright side, the more people who fish the local mud ponds, the fewer googans you have to contend with on the river. Those ponds probably have a decent rate-of-return since the trout have no choice but to hang out in the deeper section of the pond with dozens of baits right in front of their faces. .
