My last two trips to the gorge were terrible at best, but I still decided to give it one last chance. Began fishing about 9am with a large white spinnerbait. After a few casts I hooked into an underwater tree
. After cutting off the line I switched to a clown color husky jerk. I moved further upstream, and found a nice shallow cove. I began twitching the bait alongside a fallen down tree, and it produced a small but fighting chain pickerel. I tried a few more casts, but to no prevail and decided to call it a day. |

Definitely the time of year for the husky jerk. Nice little slime dart.

Once the trout stocking ends in that stretch of the Passaic, there's only a few species left for which to fish. That's a good sized pickerel for there. I've caught smaller ones and also a few small red fin pickerel near the RR trestle.
