So it costs the boat owner $700 a day for the guy to come and watch them throw fish into the hole. . . . Thats such shit!!!!!!!!!

I dunno, I feel bad for the guy, but its a simple matter of too many fish being caught and eaten over the past several decades... I don't know the answer of course... More regulation?. Don't think that will help, and putting the guys that fish commercially out of business isn't the answer... Too many people eating too many fish I suppose.......bob

Only the Government could possibly think they are going to stop illegal activity by putting an observer on board. Their vessel observer plan is the equivalent of saying that random drug tests are not effective as we would like so we are going to let everyone schedule their own drug screens and then bill them for the test. Forget who pays for it, scrap it and fire the morons at NOAA who put it in place to begin with. It's a ridiculous plan.
The fisherman are already subject to random boarding's at sea and surprise inspections when offloading. Maybe they could increase the frequency of those instead of inventing ways to waste other peoples money. It's unbelievable. |
