Default Is the Herring/Hickory Shad running in PP inlet

I want to take the kids fishing for Herring/Hickory Shad so they can have fun and not get wet. All fish are going back in the water. I just need to know if anything is around yet.

Thank you

Sabiki rig and 1 ounce sinker should be good. Cast and retrieve. Very easy and you'll catch shad and herring. When the herring are thick, you'll catch all the herring you want. Try different water depths on your retrieve until you hit fish. Sometimes they'll be tighter to the bottom, some times right up top. I usually cast straight out and let the line swing with the current as I retrieve. Fun fishing and if not too cold a blast for kids. Don't be surprised if a bass latches on to your herring when reeling in, seen and have had it happen many times.
