My cousin lives right next to the Klamath river, one of the best salmon fisheries on the west coast. we tried last week when i visited him and came to a great spot, an extremely deep pool with fish jumping left and right. on a junky disposable combo i tied a 6lb, 5 ft long leader of mono to the thick wirey mainline and threw spoons, spinners, drifted single eggs and egg sacks, jigs and live worms but couldn't get a single hookup. were they being selective on flies or just not feeding? i could use some advice for when i visit again next year

I fished salmon / steelhead on many NW rivers & most baits u mentioned all worked on given rivers ! One missing was crawfish .
It's method, tackle& presentation that may differ greatly , any reason why u didn't ask @ a local sport shop or get in touch with a local guide ?They can generally tune u in , I'm sure not many Klamath river fisherman on this board ! |
