Default Pre Storm Tuna trip

I got my tuna fix last week on a non sponsor boat. With the storm coming, I'm pretty sure no one would want to hear about it. But what it was and what it will be now made me write... I went 5-6 on YFT between 50-60 lbs!, ORL ( chunking and jigging on the ........ ) I'm sure, I lost my BigEye jigging! I just caught a nice YFT jigging at 120 ft with my favorite jig, a pink metallic sardine with no paint left on it from all the tuna I have jigged over the yrs with it. Guys look at it and I say, the paint is gone from Bites!! Capt **** calls out fish at 150', so I'm at 120' so I just drop another color and Yo Yo once, I'm On again! I'm making headway but then all of a sudden this fish goes Berserk! Dumping my reel as if it was in free spool along with Violent head shakes for a life time but it was only seconds. All I could do was hang on as it went down and under on a angle in the bow. I knew the outcome wasn't going to be good but I had hope... It then goes pooped.... I reeled up Sad n Disappointed and then have to listen to chit from Capt.... from the window. lol U know the drill. My mid knot held but it was a clean break at the end of my 80 lb fluro top shot n my jig was gone........During this trip we landed 3 Eyeballs between 140-175 lbs! My drag was set at 17-18 lbs at 100 feet. I checked it out when I got home in my backyard at 100 feet. Yikes! Powerful Fish!!!! Dennis

Nice job Dennis. I'll see you on that non sponsor next month. You'll get that big one next time. Your leader was probably chafed from all those previous fish.
