Tenacious Canyon Report 8/31-White Marlin, Blue Marlin, Yellowfins

[Tenacious Sportfishing]

Hosted Mark, Derek. Gary, Jacque and Frank for an open boat overnighter in the Hudson Tuesday.
Caught and released a White Marlin 15 minutes after starting to troll on the east elbow. Heard there was a day chunk bite amidst the pilot whales so we joined the bumper boats and started chunking at 5:30. We had only one runoff till just before sundown till we switched to 40 lb leader and went 3 for 6 on 60 lb yellowfin. Continued drifting and chunking thru the night with no action. At false light we returned to the bumper boats and went 3 for 4 on more yellowfins. At mid morning we began trolling back up the east wall and had a Blue Marlin take 300 yards off a 70vs after eating a blue and white joe shute ballyhoo. He put on a spectacular show with at least 15 jumps and tail walks. We backed down till we recovered the line, landed the Blue, took pictures and made the release. At that point we headed for home with the tuna on ice and five smiling anglers.
