Got the invite to jump on my buddies boat. Couldn't pass up the opportunity to get with the beautiful weather and get the season started. Was a little rusty and but got back into the swing of things by the end of the night. Water conditions were cystal clear but we had a horrible tide so didn't know what to expect. Ended up only seeing a handful of carp, cats and gizzard shad but there was a ton of nice bass and bowfin up shallow. Just got saying we were gonna pass up a snakehead thinking it was a bowfin no more then 5 minutes later we were working our way through a back cove and saw probably 15 bowfin, saw a big one hiding in a tree and at the very last second I realized it was a snakehead. Made my shot count and got my personal best nj snakehead 7.8 lbs. Called it quits by 1130 with 4 carp 2 cats 3 gizzard shad and the one snakegead. Definitely wasn't a numbers night but was great to be back on the water
