Default Ductwork 24hr Bigeye and some larger yellowfin

Been busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest so haven't had much time to post....

Had the boat out in the deep overnight into Monday with Dwight, Mike P, Ken, Kenny and Ryan. Traffic was light with few boats. Hit a few pots on the flats and put some mahi in the boat and then got up on the troll amongst the pilot whales around 5pm. Switched over to chunking as one boat had a couple nice yellowfin as soon as he set up...Turned out to be a good decision. We had a bigeye on as soon as we set up and actually got to see the fish come in take the chunks and the hook bait before screaming off. Twenty minutes in the 80lb leader chaffed and we broke the fish off. Disapointing as it was we didn't wait long for another bite and had a pair of nicer yellowfin, 1 around 70lb and the other around 80lbs. The larger of the two fish Dwight had on a lighter jigging rod and jigmaster reel. Since it worked well on the yellowfin, he put it back out and was on again this time with a bigeye and we were off to the races. An hour and a half, all the crew on the rod and countless port circles later we landed the fish. Taped out at 62"L 52" G putting it in the 210 or so neighborhood. Ended up getting 4 more yellowfin after getting set back up...3 smaller keeper fish and one rat we released. Action lasted 6 to 10pm or so. Rest of the night was slow except for a few dusky sharks, which weren't as bad as I was expecting. Had one better yellowfin on at grey light that pulled the hook early in the fight. After that it was pretty quiet so we headed for the barn. All fish were on small butters on flat lines set back in the chunks. Great trip with a great crew.
