![]() First post here. Great site. Spent almost 4 hours at a pike spot around sunrise. Had a good 15-20 takes. Couldn't land a single one. They just kept spitting the hook. Normally I would be aggravated beyond belief, but this is the first year that I'm actually fishing for pike. I know where they are, so hopefully I can land one.

![]() sounds like there might be something you can do to raise your odds of keeping them hooked...a different action rod? a trailer hook? are you loosing them when they jump?

![]() Keep at, you're off to a much better start then I was when I started pike fishing. Maybe a harder hook set could work? What type of lures are you using?

![]() Don't use trebles you don't need them and they hurt the fish
Use a harder hook set, that is the issue Please take care of this precious resource |

![]() Thank you for the tips so far. I keep losing them when I set the hook. I've tried waiting to set, setting when I see them take it, eye crossing set, set a bit lighter, and nada. They haven't held on long enough to jump, yet. I am using dardevil spoons with the factory double hooks. I'm tossing it with a Shakespeare medium action 6' rod with a bait caster reel.
