Default NOAA Wrong Again

Took the day off Monday to do some fluke fishing out of Shark River Inlet. This was based on NOAA Monday forecast. 5-10 NW becoming 5 SW in afternoon. seas 2 ft. Got to the inlet and wind was howling 15-20 north all day and five foot seas. Had to turn around like all the other small boats that were there and read the same forecast that I did and fish the river all day for shorts. Stayed home 3 times this year based on NOAA forecast when the weather was beautiful. Thanks again NOAA for getting in wrong again.

I feel your pain...

Not that they don't blow forecasts as well but Windguru is typically better then NOAA... We have a direct link to them on the site here. If you look above under Resources, Choose Wind Information.

A lot of people have also been using the Long Brach forecast on www.weather.com as another point of info they have an hourly forecast with wind speed once you are withing 24 hours.

As far as most forecasts go, I don't trust any more then 2 days out.

Don't forget to bookmark the surf cams that are outside Manasquan Inlet. Can't beat looking at the waves yourself on cam vs reading predictions!

Can you actually get anything of value from Windguru without paying for the pro/pay version? Cannot ever seem to get any data in the zzones around us.

I like wind Guru much better than NOAA and it is free right on the top of this page under Resources. They blow a few but I think NOAA should use them and save us all some money.
