So, if I'm reading this right. They dont want to deny access to the land , but they don't want federal involvement in the process? Shouldn't this be handled on a state level anyway. The individual state the land is in should be reporting to the feds how much access they are making available for these recreational activities.............

The catch is that there's a lot of federal land and water that could be suitable for fishing, hunting and other recreational activities. But it's hard to get to. The legislation would set up databases of such areas. USFS is saying there's no need to; the situation can be handled at the local level. If there's a place you want to fish that's federally owned and you can't get there, talk to the people in town, not Washington.
