Yesterday evening I caught and released a 10 channel catfish in the Millstone River. It liked my homemade corn meal bait with mulberry syrup from Lebanon. The resident adult male mute swan scrutinized my catch in the pic.

Did you get a haircut? That's a big catfish. I often catch channel cats while carp fishing. My rule of thumb used to be; catfish like protein and carp eats carbs, -but I found that doesn't always apply. In locations where the catfish are regularly eating sweet food like areas where berries are falling into the water, the catfish are just as likely to hit a sweet bait as a stink bait. I always release big cats, too. I just don't like the fillets after they get much thicker than an inch or so. I look for a slot of about 18" to 21". .
