Default Fishing myths

So what are some myths about fishing that you may have been told, or believed at one time, but found out to be untrue?

Here's one for me...I always believed that in the summer fish move into shallow water after sunset because the water has cooled.

Ever since I bought a fish finder with a temperature sensor I learned this is nonsense. If the water is 80 degrees in the afternoon it's usually still 80 degrees at midnight. If there are any changes it's usually no more than a single degree.

I once heard of a guy that caught a walleye in Monksville. I have proved him wrong many times over.

Saying you caught anything in monksville is like saying you saw a sasquatch. It could be true, but its probably not.....

Stinky bait for catfish. Yes it works but fresh cut bait works much better for big channels and live bait for flatheads

Any body bring bananas on their boat? I won't touch bananas any days I'm going fishing and definitely don't let them on my boat. Guy I bought my boat from never heard the ol banana myth till he packed one and ripped his lower unit off on a rock shoal 10 miles out on lake Erie. I don't believe it but I'm not out to disprove it either
