Default Bashakill

I know its not in New Jersey, but I was curious if any of you guys had experience fishing it? I've been there twice but didn't have enough time to explore it. It looks amazing though, like a prehistoric river from another time period. I heard there are monsters in there, cats up to 50 lbs, giant bowfin, huge piks. Please share your experiences.

I've hit the bash kill from end to end. Mostly large pickeral, some large mouth, panfish, carp and bowfins. Contrary to what you might have heard, there are no real deep spots, and I've never seen a trout come out of there. Any questions pm me

I'm extremely familiar with those waters, I used to go up there every weekend for more than 2 years near Wurtsboro/Bloomingburg/Cuddybacksville areas......The river is like you said ---it's very dense like a mini Nile river.....I used to see BIG pickerel hanging out by the many bridges, picking off baby carp and baitfish and once the river level goes down after spring, the largemouth get active in any cove you find..I've caught fish up to 4 pounds mostly on topwater in the summertime........there are some big bass in there for sure.....Not sure what you are looking for exactly, but if it is a combination of fishing/exploring, then maybe you should stay local and explore the Passaic River.......there are literally miles and miles of water , very similar to the Basherkill right here in NJ, with a more diverse species. And a chance of a monster Pike and smallmouth and largemouth as well.....Alot of decent spots are just as, if not more scenic, than the Basherkill....I assume you will be kayaking, which will be perfect to explore the Passaic's harder to get to areas..Not sure about GIANT bowfin, but yes, they are in there.....but then again, they are in the Passaic also........hope that helps you a bit...
