Default New York Saltwater Registry

I fish out of Atlantic Highlands Harbor Marina . Someone just told me they were informed that this year , if I plan on being in New York Waters , that we need New York Saltwater Reg's for all people over 16 on our Boat. In addition to the NJ ones .

Just wanted to see if anyone could confirm this .

Its getting Closer.............

Like NJ the NY salt licenes is free.
Just know that NY regs differ from NJ so if you are in NY with NJ keeper fluke you will be in trouble unless they are all huge fish. Lol

Actually.. this will no longer be the case this year as they are "regionalizing" the regs.. so we will all be fishing under the same rules.. But the registry part still goes..

Everything stated is true, however be careful! The only species that has been"regionalized" is fluke. The striper and many other species limits are not the same in NJ and NY.

NJ is 2 > 28" while NY is 1 from 28 -40" and 2nd > 40".

If you're registered in NY, do you also have to register in NJ?

It seems kind of funny that you have to register in both states but you do. If however you are fishing on a for hire boat (party or charter boat) you do not need to regsiter as their registation covers everyone on the boat but they too need to register in both states.
