Default canoe/kayak/small Jon boat access?

I have been thinking more and more about getting something very small and light for the top of my Tracker to use in the Shrewsbury/Navesink, or the Shark/Manasquan Rivers from say June into August, maybe September.. I am trying to find ways to cut some of the costs associated with driving to the NJ shore . Towing my bigger boats is a killer , and I find I just don't want the hassle and the cost... Cartopping lests say a 10-12 ft jon boat or flat bottom canoe with a small 4 cyl, would save me probably $75-100 each trip in gas, ramp fees, and tolls.. Over the course of the summer, it would really add up.. I realize my range would be limited, but I have a 6 HP motor that would push a small light car topper good.. I see no problem in the rivers during week days with getting swamped.. I hope... I know there are people that disregard posted speeds, and no wake zones, but I never fish in a small boat or canoe without wearing a PFD, so most likely the worst I could expect is a loss of some gear and a wet ass.

Are there any places to get a canoe or very small car topper into any of these rivers without have to pay for a ramp?.... I used to live in Union Beach and always had access to the bay and Shrewsbury river, but I imagine by this time its very hard to find a little side street near the water to launch even a kayak these days.. If anyone can help me out it would be appreciated.. If you would rather not post here, please PM.. thanks --- bob

In the back of the shrewsbury we used to use the park off silver mine rd in I believe little silver or port Monmouth close to the weapons station- the surf shop brave new world was close and in the shark river we would launch off of memorial park in Neptune city but your dragging for a hundred yards or more: next would be shark river hills in the reeds after both marinas or over at McClearie park in belmar near their bathing beach south of the big party boat marina... Also the ramp in little silver is free just limited parking... Any more ?s feel free to pm me, I'll pass off my # for any more questions. Good luck!!

Ramp insouth Amboy would be a option for you big boats can't get out with sand bar really and honestly a jon boat can't get thorough at low tide however it is free amd about a 2min paddle from the channel
