![]() Well wasn't quite sure how the weekend would play out. I DON'T like the feeling of not being sure where your fishing tomorrow morning! I usually always know where I'm heading before I close my eyes for the night. Schedules change Just like the weather and had several potentials with a couple of fellow NJF'ers but it just wasn't going to work out this week like we hoped it would. Being saturday was going to be beautiful and the Wifey was going to be out for the day, I decided to hit it again, come you know where!
I was still determined to catch My Beloved Hybrids! ONE MORE TIME THIS YEAR!!!!!!! I took a Very Casual Approach to it and didn't even arrive on the water till like 11:30am. I was quite surprized to see about a dozen other trailers in the parking lot. Last time I was there there was only two besides myself. Realizing there is a Bass Tourney going on I decided to head out to some open water area to set up and fish. Water temp was 49 degrees so I knew I had a shot to catch them. I Set up and not too long I was in!!!! Not a monster but still a wiper! It was GAME ON for the better part of the afternoon! I ended up catching FIVE and missing three, coulda had eight for the day but that's fishing!!!!LOL Now I'm not sure if I'm done fishing for them for the year But at least I got my wish and caught them one last time before winter!!!! The Fish Gods smiled on me this weekend!!!

![]() Ever try targeting them deep winter pre ice or just after ice out? Great report and nice catches.

![]() Na, My experience with them is that once you hit the lower 40's as far as water temp it is pretty much over till spring! Similar to the the big ones in the salt. I have caught stripers in water temps lower but it's not the norm.
I know occasionally they are caught thru the ice on hopatcong but you got a better chance of getting hit by a car than catching them in winter! HEY WATCH OUT FOR THAT CAR!!!!

![]() Nice catch, I believe your on spruce run I saw a video on youtube of guys catching huge crappies out of there. Hows the crappie fishing? You ever catch them while fishing for the hybrids? Oh and check out some youtube videos of webguy he catches hybrids out of hopatcong dead smack in the middle of winter with jigging raps its crazy he barely moves the lure and bam some days he catches dozens of them. I tried it once and got skunked not easy.
