Default Took the 50+ mile run Sat out east...

Well we decided to go check on the hot bite out east and left Keyport Sat,. morning around 5 dark 30. a little over 2 hours later we came up on a huge fleet of boats, swirling fish and the mother load of birds literally stretching for miles and miles. started to jig but no takers except for weakfish, as many weakies as you wanted! hooked up a monster blue and when releasing he puked up dozens of gigantic sand eels. After moving from pod to pod with nothing to show but more weakfish we decided to go on the troll put out 2 different spreads and one hooked up immediately... Bluefish???? Nope... striper on! 1st one in the boat... Get set back up and BAM... second striper in the boat... in the next hour or so we landed a total of 4 keeper bass and dropped a pig (my fault ) and a few monster bluefish. South wind started to pick up and we worked our way back west stopping on marks and jigging under birds nothing but more weakfish. back to the dock by 5pm.... Great day on the water with a great light crew!... Tournaments this weekend ( HI-MAR 40 HOUR FALL STRIPER TOURNAMENT) and we will be ready willing and able. Might have a spot open for 1 more guy if anyone is interested.... Hope this wave of fish moves west... Bait readings the whole way out were insane!!!!! Here is a pic of rob with the bass....

Nice!! Hope those fish come our way soon... With the winds they are forecasting for the next several days it would be a long bumpy ride out east.

Gerry with the amount of bait and bird activity we saw on the way out east it looks like they will be funneled right in to our front yard... With the cold nights being forecasted this week we are right on track to get those water temps in the zone and start an explosive fall run!

She is a tank Fine but you still feel 4 and 5 footers and she tends to rool on the drift as well. That and a 50 miles equals 50 gallon$ so you pay for the comfort.

I started using a drift sock during the summer, because my wife did not like the roll when we were drifiting for fluke on the outside. After 15 mins, she decalred it the "miracle machine." It works really well. I bought the biggest one that Cabelas sold and it reduces the roll substantially under most conditions.

I know about paying for the comfort. I put over 125 hrs on my CC, this summer, including a couple of nice offshore trips. Fortunately, the diesel fuel was between $3.49 and $3.59 all season long. That helped quite a bit.

Gerry I can relate, we run at 1mile per gallon with the twin 2 strokes soooo costs can be a killer. Lets hope we don't need to run that far, I have been getting some pretty good reports a LOT closer to home this week....
