Thumbs up Be a fly on the wall !!!!

http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/cnclminutes.htm

Just a sample of what is going on............

Staff will be receiving land locked salmon from Massachusetts this week, and will exchange them for northern pike fingerlings. The salmon will be held at the Hackettstown Hatchery to grow, and will be distributed this fall.

At the Hackettstown Hatchery, three of the four buildings are now filled. The last of the musky fish are hatching, and Chief Barno described a different methodology that is being tried with them this year.

Staff from the Research and Management Section are working on the Delaware River at the mouth of the Musconectcong River to look for androgynous species using electro-fishing methods. None have been
reported so far.

Trap nets have been set at Oxford Furnace. Carnegie Lake and Mountain Lake will follow. Staff is doing preliminary work and will be looking for population and growth estimates for muskellunge and a working on the stocking program for walleye.

Angler log books have been distributed for the Flatbrook and the South Branch of the Raritan.

Chief Barno reported that Lake Hopatcong is scheduled for a five foot draw down this fall, which has been creating much back and forth discussion with the citizen’s advisory committee.

Principal Biologist Ivany reported for the Information and Education Section. Fishing license sales have made a strong comeback, and he distributed information on same.

Or go there (where ever there is) and get your 3 minutes of fame and voice your opinion

Carnegie Lake for walleye? Have they dredged that ten to fifteen feet deeper recently?

I think they meant Carnegie Lake for Muskies. I guess if it works at Mercer it would work there. Weren't Tigers put in there awhile back?

Was wondering if the Walleye would be for Furnace/Carnegie/Mountain or they are "working on the stocking program for Walleye" in ADDITION to the Muskie work.

I dont get why they're focusing all of these efforts in these little 30-60 acre lakes. Why not focus on getting bass fishing going again in Spruce and RVR? What about walleye in Spruce? Some of these lakes have so much size, why waste it and put 4,000 muskie into mountain?

.......and COUNTLESS letters I have written about the Raritan river. I will be a guest speaker at T.U. in September and I'm going to arrange to get my 3 mins. at a council meeting and ask them why the Raritan river is ignored when it comes to stocking. I get to sit here day after day and read all about the great pike in the Passaic and mean while not one fish is stocked below Rt. 206 on the Raritan. So much great water being over looked by F&G.

Remember, you can always e mail F&G. Look for the BIG NJF M&G in December

Trout are a bit androgynous, even the males are all pretty and sparklely.
