Had tentitive plans with a couple of friends. One worked a last minute charter and the other was suffering from a margaritaville hang over, so decided to fly solo on the shrimp.
Having never launched by myself before, I was quite pleased with the ease in witch this was accomplished. So off I went, a force of one. Headed to the typical haunts and scratched together a catch. I only caught four fish all day, no junk fish, just four fluke all day. The good news is that all four were keepers and one came in at 23 inches. All fish flipped into the boat due to the fact I kept calling for the net and no one responded . Was gonna stay out and try to get my limit, but I had my fill. Had a great time fishin alone (although saw plenty of friends on the water). Back at the marina I was a little intimidated about recovering the boat on my own, but once again got it on the trailer without a problem. Called my wife and said "launched, recovered and fished solo with no problem, now I truly don't need Any one else in my life" she wasn't happy. Great day of solitude and just missed my limit, gotta call that a good day. Montauk next Friday and Saturday. It's good to be me.

The trailer is the hard part considering the ramps around here suck. Tough bite today with the water temps. Four keepers is a fine catch .nice job.

Nice job Steve. You'll build up a comfort level after a while going solo. Made many trips that way due to back outs, back cramps, back butt aches, and numerous other excuses not to go. Tough when you're the captain but don't let it keep you from going. Some of my best trips out there solo, just be smart and be safe. Use check and double check on everything from radio before launch to extra gas, ropes, buddy boat as mentioned, float plans, etc....

I had a boat or two that I was in constant contact with. Had extra ropes in easy reach and checked the radio twice.
Also made sure the anchor was accessible just in case I needed it quickly. As far as the vest goes, I don't have to worry about the 250 pound rating, if it pops it will choke me to death Capt. Phil, nice chatting with u this morning, always a pleasure.
