WOW...WHAT A DAY ON THE WATER...
1st - I would like to thank the nj fishing community for the recommendation as this was an amazing Grouper trip. 2nd - The trip...arrived at the boat a half our early and Captain Joe introduced himself in one breath as he apologized for the boat being so dirty because he has been fishing 12 hr a day...7 days a week... I knew I was in good hands. 3rd - The catch...boardered the 35 foot center console with twin 250 yahamas and steamed to the fishing grounds. He was not afraid to to burn gas...arrived at the fishing grounds a little over an hour and anchored up in 125 ft of water. 4th - The fish...baited up with squid and a full sardine...down 125 ft and WACK...WACK...mate yelled, crank do not yank. Up came up a keeper red grouper. We picked 7 keepers in a few minutes and then we moved to fish another spot. Limited out with 24 keeper red grouper and were throwing back 24 inch keepers to make room for the monsters. My largest was about 17 pounds. After limiting out on reds, we switched up to snapper fishing. Caught gag groupers (season is closed), trigger fish, mangrove snappers, lain snappers, strawberry grouper, porgies and other species as well. Would HIGHLY recommend Fish Galore out of Venice Fl. Will try to post pics later. Again, thanks to the fellow nj fisherman who recommended him as I have been fishing down here for the last 6 yrs and finally found my new captain in Florida. had an almost identical trip in December, but on a different boat out of Venice, FL. only think different was that we did some sabiki (bait) fishing at the inlet, then steamed to waters a bit deeper than you had. great report! always fun to eat the grouper and snapper
Nice report! |

Have had the opportunity to go out on Fish Galore several times when we're down on Siesta Key and has become my ritual during our weekly stays. You will NOT be disappointed on a trip with Joe. This is his life....Spares no expenses and usually does the sabiki drop right out of the inlet for the bait unless he's already loaded up. He will put you on as many species as he can find and keep you out late to find them..Sounds like you had one of those awesome trips and I can imagine the arms were sore at the end of the day from reelin' 'em in..nice report.

Sounds like you had a great trip! I fished with capt. Joe about a month ago when grouper was closed, but they were fun to catch. Joe is a great guy and knows his sh$t! Some tasty fillets you got there.
