Default Feed Bag time for the Bass 11/10

Got out in the kayaks with a buddy for some fishing Saturday morning from 8am-1pm. Tied on a nice flouro leader and tossed a big Husky Jerk for my toothy friends, but they were nowhere to be found. The Largemouths though, were out in full effect. Between my friend and I, we landed 10 Bass and a few Yellow Perch for good measure. The action was constant as soon as we located the fish, as they were between 3ft.-6ft. and hugging still green weeds. No beasts, but the biggest was an 18" fish with a nice belly, with the second biggest right at 17". The Perch-patterned Husky Jerk was what they wanted. Water temps were about 45 degrees.

It constantly amazes me how many people won't fish for bass once water temps get below 50. Bass will feed throughout the year, even under the ice if the water is deep enough. The biggest bass of the year are normally caught in early spring or late fall. As long as there is no ice, my bass tackle is always at the ready.

I have caught plenty of bass through the ice in only 5 or 6 feet of water too. They just love to eat.

No crazy acrobatics but nice fights. Definitely fun though.
