Default Passaic River 7/28

I fished the river from 9 am-12 pm. Water conditions were slightly deeper and more clear than I thought. It was nice to be out on a morning where I was not sweating my ass off. I caught one pike that was 4.5 lbs pictured below, and lost two other pike and got one dinker smallie. I made one long cast with a dare devil spoon and had a fish on for a couple of minutes. I am not sure if it was a pike or a big smallie but whatever it was spit it out. I was pissed. It def had some weight on it. Not a bad day though. One pike is def better than no pike.

interesting, I've always identified pickerel by vertical line from eye to lower jaw but hybrid pike/pickerel don't have the line.
