Default Motor Question

Today I was out on Hopatcong : air 90 water 80.
I have a 16 ft tracker with a 9.9 4 stroke.
Fished all day not a problem, coming in and cruising
along and the motor stops (cranks but will not start)
Use the electric to get in try the motor and starts right up.
Go another 100 yards same thing. Put boat on trailer go home
start motor up in driveway starts right up and runs fine ( ran with
hose hooked up for about 15 minutes)
Does anyone have an idea what was wrong?

Clean the float out and mind yor ball it may be failing, don't forget to add stabilizer every time you fill , you could have just picked up some muck in the intake too. Good luck

i had the same problem with my motor in munksville with the same water temp. then i took it out in saltwater three days later with cooler water and no problems. i think the water is just too warm for some motors too be running around all day in. 80 degrees just aint coolin things down too much.

I was thinking vapor lock due to the heat.
The motor ran well all year and in the morning.
It began to act up aroung noon(high temps.)
What baffled me was if I let the motor sit for
about ten minutes it was fine until it ran for a while.
I drove home (45 minutes) and ran it it the driveway
and it started up and did not stall. Not even a flutter.
Smooth as can be.

I would run some cleaner in the fuel from now on, I have been adding seafoam and some techron to my fuel all season to be safe and clean up anything in there. It sounds like a heat issue. U gotta remember the water in LH is over 80, I marked 84 degrees past brady bridge shallows the other day, its HOT in there. The problem w little motors is u run them almost always at full throttle so they get hot alot faster and theres less size and metal to them to cool as well
