Default Looking for a place to take 4 year old.

I am looking for a place to take my 4 year old daughter this Saturday. I live in Lincoln Park so I know I could hit the Passaic or Pompton, but I want a place that 1) have plenty of Sunnies for her to catch 2) a place for her to catch something bigger (she says she wants to catch a big fish). Lately I have only trout fished so I am rusty on bass and have no clue with pickerel or pike. I was thinking of somewhere up by Stokes or High Point. Would love to come home with a catfish or something. She caught one at the Hatchery Open House and thought it was cool.

Any help would be great.

Campgaw Pond in Mahwah. You can park your car and fish 5 feet away. Loaded with sunnies. worm under a float. Also plenty of bass, use a texas rigged senko. I have never caught any other species of fish besides these two from this pond, however.

Yeah, that is a good little pond. There are fish all along the wall by the road. You can get some nice night crawlers in the woods too. I was thinking there because I can hike with her too. My 2 year old would have fun too and my wife doesn't need a license this weekend.

Being you're from Lincoln Park, yes the Passaic is right there, but with a 4-year old, I'd tried to find a place with a little easier access. There is TONS of poison ivy almost everywhere along the river (not fun!).

To be almost guaranteed some fish, with tons of easy access, I'd try Verona Park lake in Verona off of Bloomfield Ave. Its a beautiful park with the lake itself being a little bigger than your typical park pond. I've caught some very respectable Largemouths in there (up to 19"), as well as Sunnys, the occasional Trout, and there are monster carp in there. If the little guy's attention span is short that day, theres always the playground for her .

I second Verona Park

easy access / plenty of fish in the lake - can walk the whole thing

If she gets cagey, you can always go into the playground and break it up.

Also if you want to hit the bloomfield ave corner by the church - you can grab an ice cream over there also.
