Default Echo Lake Resi 6/2

Decided last minute to Echo Lake for vacation day 2. Didn't hit the water till almost noon.

Spent the first hour trolling large spinnerbaits for musky, nada.

After that we started working the shoreline. After a few average smallies and a couple rock bass we came up to a submerged tree. One cast is all it took for my #3 mepps aglia to get hit like a freight train. And, just as quick as it hit, my line went limp and I realized I just missed a beast!! Unfortunately, once we came out of "musky mode", I removed my steel leader

After a few minutes of swearing I tied on a strike king spinnerbait (with steel leader). Few casts later I hooked into an angry smallie. Fish of the day, made feel a little better about missing the beast.......... A little.

He can swim but he can't hide!! I'll get em next time........

Here's the angry smallie, refused to be landed........

Nice specimen.

Want to hit Echo Lake before it gets too hot. Is there any good shoreline fishing there?

There are Monster Bass(5+) in Echo it's all about the time of the year though since Echo is basically a big fishbowl......Aug, Sept, and Oct(if wind permits) I have done my best....Also, Eddie is right, when you least expect Mr. Musky to hit it happens....they are all over that place........I have caught a few while throwing a crank or spinnerbait for bass and it is so cool to see them following the lure, the gills blow out, and they inhale your bait....then it's rodeo time!!!.....Here's a MONSTER I got last fall on a spinnerbait on 8 pound mono on a 6 1/2 foot medium casting rod while bass fishing

Not right now cause the water level is up past the trees. There are some spots but it is better when the water is a bit lower.
