Default Are pike as easy as pickerel?

Went out the other nite and caught a dozen pics. Never caught a pike. Off the next two days and going to target Farrington. Do they stock that lake with more pike every year? Can I catch them as easily as pickerel. All I did the other nite was throw my lure into the lilypads and retrieve. Can I do the same for pike and expect the same results Thanks.

from what i know farrington's pike fishing is good all throughout the spring and most guys get them on live golden shiners or live bluegill. i dont see why artificials wont work, try a variety of spinner baits, jerk baits or spoons and see which is best. hit all shoreline structure from a boat; its a big lake. in late march i lost a 24" pike on a bluegill, it snapped the line during a run once i got it near the shore. make sure you have a net so that stuff wont happen

BIG shiners, big Husky Jerks, big Jointed Rapalas (like what you landed the above Pickerel on but the size bigger). All the Pike I have landed have been either relative to shore or structure, all in 5ft of water or less. From my experience, they are aggressive, but not as consistent as Pickerel. I've had many more multiple Pickerel days than multiple Pike days though...

I can only give very little input as I've only caught one at Spruce so far. It hit a shallow swimming crankbait (so not that big in lure size)and it came off the shoreline in about 10-12ft of water. But I figured any input could be good input.

From the shore regarding Farrington Lake ... try the Sir John's area ... large shinners and artificals have worked for me. Good Luck!

I fish Farrington frequently and have only caught 2 there. I tend to fish the upper reaches of the lake where the pads are thickest.

I have seen a lot of folks trolling and live lining as mentioned by others from the bridge where the main boat ramp is on down toward the dam.

Several years ago i saw a pike (assume) explode on a baby goose...GONE in a swirl...so they are there.
