![]() Well while the wifey was getting her hair done, I get some fishing in while I was waiting. Was planning on hitting Cranberry Lake or Swartswood, but figured out Aeroflex was 5 minutes away from where I was.
Threw the kayak in around noon to overcast skies and a stiff breeze. Tossed a 4" wacky rigged senko and within 10 minutes, had a nice blowup around 2 feet from the boat, but did not hook up. 2 casts after that, I hooked onto what I was sure was a small bass or pickerel, but ended up being a trout. Now I dont usually target trout much, so you guys will have to fill me in on what kind of trout it is (rainbow or brown?) I was also pretty surprised he hit the senko, but then again, I've caught almost everything out there on a senko lol. I am strictly catch and release, so I tossed him back to swim another day. No more than 5 casts later, I hooked up with something a little bigger, as he put up more of a fight. Landed a nice largemouth bass, also on the 4" wacky rigged senko. I guesstimated him around 2 lbs. Was hooked nice in the corner of the mouth and was also released to swim another day. Had a couple more hits, but was out of there by 3pm. Overall, it was pretty nice to break the skunk of 2011. Here's a few pics... ![]() ![]() |

![]() Next time don't hide the side of the fish. That's the tell all spot for identity. From the dots I can see on it's head it looks like a brown trout.

Very good to know. The senko showing off its versatility I guess lol. Will have to try it in a few local trout stocked ponds. |
