hopatcong perch
I have strayed from the sweetwater towards the salty stuff so I have decided to get back to my roots more this year. Bottom Bouncer offered to play quide for a trip to the big lake for some perch. He provided me with a small shad like dart to target perch. We started right in with some quick action on medium size perch. The fishing reminded me of the way the cod fishing has been lately. We got 4 or 5 fish quickly from every new spot and then the action died. We tried some jerk baits and some spinners to see if we could get any bass or walleyes. We did not have any luck with theses species however. Antonio did get a nice rainbow on the dart and I managed a colorful brookie on a spinner, both were quickly released. This was my first time on the lake and I was very suprised at the number of bass boats out. We must have seen 40. I can not imagine a weekend in the summer here. All in all it was a nice day with some good action. I very much appreciated Antonio sharing his knowledge. This is what is great about NJ fishing.
