Lake Assunpink 3/30

Tried something different today and hit Lake Assunpink. The water wasn't as dirty as I was expecting. Talked to a kayaker who had some bass and sunfish back in the cove near the island. So we fished our way out there, and tried jigging crappies near the island with no luck. We fished the shoreline back to the coves and the fish were there. Worked 2 coves, and then trolled in the middle of the lake hoping to work all of the coves along that shoreline. Well, when we worked the first cove, we almost ended up getting the boat stuck. So we decided to head back to the original cove as we had left it alone for awhile. The fish were back up there again. However, we were stuck there for a 1/2 hour extra as my old man had to do repairs on the motor as fishing line sheared one of the pins inside it. We ended up heading straight back to the dock from there. We fished from 3:30 pm to 7:15 pm. I ended up with 6 bass,3 sunfish,2 pickeral, and 1 perch and my dad had 2 bass and 1 pickeral. Defintely a major improvement in the fishing, especially the fact we both finally nailed our first bass of 2011 . Not going to be doing anything except maybe shore fishing today.
