Default Lake Nomahegan

I just got back from Lake Nomahegan. I was antsy and wanted to wet a line. I only fished about an hour and got hit by a few dink bass with no hook-ups. No big deal, but what I'm more concerned about is how much of a mess this place looks like. I was in the spot back in the woods, which looks like it has dropped another 3-6 feet since the last time that I was there. There is no more water running out of the lake, so now it looks like it's getting stagnant and has all kinds of crap on the surface. With the lake so low and no water moving through it, it's going to be a frickin' wasteland. The far end that goes back in the woods looks like it's a foot deep and is already overgrown with weeds and it's MARCH. What a shame, that place has gone steeply downhill in the last month since I fished it for the first time. It looks like that bulldozer in the back hasn't moved an inch to do any work in that same amount of time and by the time someone does decide to use it, the local kids are going to have destroyed it. I don't think that I'll be going back there any time soon. What a shame.

What a shame to hear that. I like that spot for some early action and can be good in the summer. In fact I was there at the end of February going to town on the crappie and and bass on 1/32 oz jigs. I managed three keeper sized bass along w/ a bunch of shorties. Sad to say that was the best action I had so far on bass. Hopefully it will improve by the beginning of summer.
