Default a slow day on lake hopatcong

i was on the lake today and was hoping to catch some bigger perch than i have been getting lately but the fish had other plans. the ice is 14" just about anywhere you go and i was able to walk out to a spot that i find bigger perch. the plan was to jig all day and hope to find fish in about 8' of water. i used a lipless crankbait and a jiggin rap in hopes they would play but i only got 5 fish ranging from 5" to 8" that is what i am finding just about all the places i have been fishing.. the bite was SLOW, they would look but did not hit and when you moved the jig a bit to fast they were out of there. let's hope the bite picks up for the KDC contest on sunday.

Nice report Alex, been a very different winter this year with temps and snow which I'd imagine changed patterns with what lies beneath the ice. It'll come around, the big females need to eat before the spawn, just a matter of time before they school up and put on the feed bag. I'd imagine everything this year will be 2 - 4 weeks behind last year's schedule.
