Thumbs up South branch MEGA float 8/15/25:

Five hour float trip, Rockafellows dam to the confluence with the North branch.
Started roughly at 8am and ended around 1pm. It was quality over quantity today, don't think we landed a bakers dozen between the two of us. I stuck it out with the Keitechs while my friend went with the top water. TOUGH conditions, low gin clear water and a cloudless sky. We grabbed tires along the way and left some behind unfortunately, the South branch seems to have a never ending supply of tires in it. One police office came to say hi by Blackpoint Rd, at first I thought he was a game warden. Saw at least 4 bald eagles and 5 or more Osprey. When we went to take out at the confluence there was a game warden there !! I showed him my New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey fishing licenses just for laughs, nice guy. It's a slow time of year for them, not many fishing and hunting won't start for another month or so.
The eel grass is already starting to break from the bottom of the river and some leaves are starting to fall. Yes a weekday, saw no other people fishing and no other boats.

Thumbs up Re: South branch MEGA float 8/15/25:

Love fishing locally on home waters. People have asked me which is better fishing in the summer for SMB, the North branch, South branch or main stem and I have to say YES ! You can float or wade in as seen by Lard's videos. There is a section on the South branch just above Three Bridges that has a complete canopy deck, it's pretty cool. There have been some massive bug hatches lately also.
