Headed out with a light load and 2 Okuma reps at 6 sharp to cloudy misty conditions. Capt. Bob pointed her east and we were off on another adventure. When we slowed down it was calm and a little foggy. Stevo and Chris put out one anchor. The Okuma reps had some gear rigged up for customers to try. I started out jigging an Ava 47/resin head teaser. Got 2 keepers within 15 minutes. Grandson started to sort through the shorts mixed in with the occasional keeper. The jig went cold so I switched to bait. We picked away through the morning until the wind picked up. We made a move and continued to pick through the shorts. We caught some ling mixed in with the bass. We made another move to more of the same action. I caught a chunky Tog and released it. There were 2 others caught and released within the next few minutes. Capt. Bob made another move and put her on a drift. A lot of the people around me had limited along with my grandson. When three horns sounded grandson and I had 18 Seabass and 6 Ling. The Okuma reps gave away three rods, hats, and lures. They brought some real nice jigging rods. I was impressed with their slow pitch combos.
We caught well on clams and squid. The jig bite was sporadic at best. I was holding bottom with 8 ozs and the bottom was a little sticky. My thanks to Capt. Bob, Chris, Stevo, and Okuma for another great trip. Last edited by Ol Pedro; 05-30-2025 at 09:18 PM.. Reason: Pic |

[]Grandson was on fire with his Grandmother's rod and and 3/0 Senator. He was drooling over those Okuma slow pitch reels. Possible upgrade in his future.
