Default Potomac River report 6/1/22

Managed to cross another species off my list this summer - the blue catfish.
Made a solo trip to the Potomac back in June to try and get me one of these river monsters. Never been on the river, but just tried my best via Google maps to choose a spot similar to the spots on our Delaware R. where we find flatheads.
Got lucky cuz within minutes of the first bait going out I get a nice run but get sliced off on a rock. Second run same thing happens, but I eventually fish out five catfish in total with many more lost.

Small ones from a pound to 7lbs. Right at sunset hooked into one that was much bigger than the others - probably over 20lbs.
Called it a day after that and decided to leave on a good note
All fish caught on cut up sunfish.

excellent work, perfect success on new water. Was it a solo day trip? how would you compare it to the delaware catfishing?

Thumbs up Re: Potomac River report 6/1/22

You figured them out in unfamiliar waters. That’s awesome. Good looking fish and great scenery!

It was a solo trip; fished the spot from about 5:30 till sunset.
It's very similar to Delaware catfishing but the action was definitely better. Or at least when I went it was poppin. Don't know if it's like that all the time there!
Thanks fellas, it was a lot of fun.

early winter is supposed to be the best time for big ones if you plan on making a return trip. that one is very nice though
