I also think it's a Northern Sennet. We caught one doing the same thing. Have also seen small ones mixed in with freshly netted Spearing.

Sennet... used to catch them while snapper fishing... For years I thought they were baby barracuda...

We always called those Pilot Fish IIRC... I think they were actually pretty good to eat....
