Default New to the Raritan bay

Hi guys
I’m new to fishing the Raritan bay, I’ve done some homework on spots and areas but it’s hard to find much. I’m not looking for exact spots although if anyone can PM me that’s be awesome
It’s just me and a couple friends that are using the boat, it’s a 21cc Keyport.
Not looking to go offshore

Any advice is appreciated
Thanks

All depends on time of year and what you're fishing for....The bay is an amazing fishery, especially in the spring..

Right now you're best bet for Fluke will be to fish the channel edges of the Raritan Reach and Sandy Hook channels. Look for any irregular bottom in the channels and fish them too... This is where a good depth finder comes in very handy... You also want to be on the constant look out for birds dipping down on bait and you may find some Bluefish under them casting metals. If you haven't already, you should learn how to throw a cast net. Lots of Peanut Bunker around marinas and shallow bays right now and they make a great Fluke bait..

Great place to start. The cannels hold fluke but you find the party boat fleet there like years ago. It is one of the best places to catch stripers in the spring and fall. There are also blues and weakfish along with porgies. Just watch what the other boats are doing but don't crowd them.

If your going out of Keyport turn right and keep of the coast about 100 yards and watch your depth chart. Use to be a nice hole right off Keansburg pier and it usually held a few fluke.

Actually passed by there the other day. Only fished it for 30 mins or so, it’s a pretty long hole I’m definitely going to explore it again
