My wife and I started fishing the South side of the Navy pier. The weather was great. The outgoing tide had West winds that started out in 22 foot of water. We couldn’t find a bite and moved in. We found the bite around 13 foot of water. Picking through shorts we missed what I think were two keepers felt real good on the rod. The one got off half way up and nocked off the other one with the net, guess that’s how it goes. Then we moved to the north side of the Navy pier. We saw some dolphins and a large long fish torpedo out of the water was very exciting. Pick our way through shorts and sand sharks and ended the day with two keepers 18 1/4 and 20 . White 6 inch glup tipped with squid worked for us.
P.s. - sorry didn’t figure out how to post pictures yet |

I’d say a Sturgeon as well. Not sure why but the Chapel Hill channel is loaded with them, especially in the spring.

Deep water that leads to the Hudson where they spawn.

Thanks for everyone’s input. I bet that’s what it was. It was moving pretty fast. I wonder if something was chasing it.
