Default Good Old NJ

Got to thinking today... If you're a fishermen that likes variety, NJ is arguably one of the most diverse fisheries in the country. Inshore or offshore the variety of fish we have at certain times of the year is AMAZING...

Tuna, Shark, Stripers, Fluke, Sea Bass, Blackfish and a bunch of great boats and tackle stores to feed our habit almost any time of year...

We tend to take this for granted but who has it better than us?

White and Bliue Marlin Bluefish, Cod, Hake, Mackerel, Flunder. You could make quite a long list. Frehwater is very diverse too.

Yes I hear what you're saying... I'm all in for Florida and have been many times but April though November here in the Garden State you can't beat. Only thing Florida has is the weather. However, December through March and unless you fish inshore, you have the seasonal winds to deal with and it blows like hell.

California has some of the best coastal and inshore fishing. They have
Yellowtail,Calico Bass, White Seabass, Corvina, Sandbass,Bonito, Pacific Baracuda,Sheepshead(Togs cousin), 24 different kinds of Rockfish, and Halibut to name just some of the coastal fish. Offshore New Jersey takes it. Where else can you catch Swordfish, Yellowfin, Mahi, Monster Longfin, Big Eye, or Marlin within 60 miles? Not to mention Bluefin.

i agree gerry! we are very fortunate here and striper fishing has been great but sure do miss those big inshore gator bluefish blitzes that have waned away for a few years now in the north jersey/raritan bay area. love florida fishing too! now if we could only figure out a way to get a tarpon fishery up in these waters...
