Thanksgiving morning tradition! Browns!11/28
Met up with Luke and NickM on the Musky. That river was too high. Off to the SB we went. The leaves were absolutely terrible. Hitting plugs and jigs with wreckless abandonment! I managed 6 Browns total for the morning and no signs of Rainbow Trout anywhere. Pretty good morning despite the wind and leaves! Great to hook up with a few of the boys on a blustery Turkey day. Thanks for coming out guys!
Happy Thanksgiving NJFers!!! TIGHT LINEZ!!!

Re: Thanksgiving morning tradition! Browns!11/28
Nice job keeping the tradition going.
I had a day after Thanksgiving trout trip in CT. that I did from '68 to about 2000, only missed once for extenuating circumstances. Try to keep the string going because if you miss one and then another the end of a tradition isn't far off. What started mine was by luck, we happened to find a school of just stocked 14 - 15" rainbows. We started catching them one after another and were having triple headers. One of the guys had this crazy looking lure called a vibra-bat, it was black and he had never caught anything on it so I borrowed it and caught one on that.LOL I found out from experience that in ponds and lakes, newly stock trout will school together and generally follow the shallow water so if you find them, fish-on! One time we left Jersey in drizzle and had to deal with a foot to 14" of snow when we arrived. Since they would stock from different places you had to do some searching, one year I didn't find them until almost dark and it got very cold overnight, I went back the next morning with calm winds, an air temp of 10 degrees with steam coming off the water and the fun began. I need to stop now before it sounds like fish stories.lol |
