Default Pike float

Captain Nick guided me through the passaic last sunday. He put me on the gravy and action was sweet all day. Some serious slams on a 4-5 inch paddle tail swimbait fished high in the water column, and some 8 inch largemouth bass to go around for both of us. Nick was also pulling large yellow perch left and right on jigs.
Portages and squeezing the canoe through timber were pretty tough in one stretch. But the stretch was still worth the action.

In total we only did a few miles, I lost a nice one at the end, and Nick spotted a nice 30 in shallow water.

Every lmb we caught was the same size; chunky, well fed, but short. Wonder where the big ones are.
We didnt take any pictures of the lmb so I did some photographic-investigations myself and walked the banks of the passaic tonight, just 1 min away from home.
In the mix of it, caught some pike and a nice chain pickerel.

Yep, had a few mini heart attacks that day induced by pike.

Also a neat thing was that we chatted with an angler walking the banks. He was using a jig with a chart grub
He told us how he got bit off even using heavy mono (like 20-40) when we resumed fishing just downstream i catch a pike and net it.
We both see in the net a chart grub n jig, same size, with heavy mono attached.
I believe nick still has it. We wil have to return it to the man we saw LOL lost and found.

The river is really fun at low water. Most of the banks are clear of the annoying plants, just trees and bare ground half the time.
