Tough day flukin today

Went out on a half day non sponsor boat this morning for fluke. We fished the ocean. The first 2 hours was all sea bass. 95% were shorts. I swear that I hooked the same fish 8 times.
After a couple of moves, we ran into fluke. I landed a nice 5 lb fish, and I thought things were about to break open. Wrong. I landed a short, a couple of small sea robins, then more short sea bass, finally putting a keeper sea bass in the box. About 20 minutes before heading in, the fluke of a lifetime hit like a freight train. I started to bring it up....and it spit the hook.
Crap! I’d love to know how much that one weighs. Funny, it’s the ones that get away that stick with you.
Oh well. I have been on a run of really good fishing days. I was due for a clunker.
