I like the idea of the SX reels (smaller and lower profile) since I've got trolling stuff that's doing just fine for now.

So looks like I've got it down to the Avet SX 6/4 which I intend to use for chunking and jigging fluke and stripers on a 7' medium heavy Kevin Brogan rod with a gimbal! (I called and I was already getting a rubber gimbal...but worth asking!)

Any last thoughts before I pull the trigger? I don't mind having my mind changed...
IMO the 2 speed on a reel that size is a waste of $

Garone Custom Rods, I was kind of hoping for thoughts on that, but was hoping it would just come up.

Seems like jigging and chunking doesn't really require a 2-speed setup...but didn't know if I was missing something.

Thanks for that.

Won't comment on the reel--that's been pretty well covered & you're getting your rods. If, however you should get into blue water fishing, consider an acid wrapped rod---torque problem is eliminated even with a wide spool reel. It acts like a spinning rod...line's on the bottom side of rod...I wouldn't give up the three I have...my 2 cents......

Yes Walt, if you're getting your rod built by Kevin--his last name is Bogan!

Thank you, guys.

And thank you for the correction on "Bogan". I appreciate that.

I agree the 2 speed SX is a waste. Go with the standard SX G2 single speed non-mc. If you wait a little while different colors will soon be available.

I think you are better off with a Penn Fathom 30LD or Marquesa MA20 or MA30
